What We Believe!

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the eternal and authoritative Word of God to all people. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible, in the original writing, is without error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

THE TRINITY

There is only one true and living God existing eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

THE FATHER

God is the Creator of all things. He is perfect and sovereign, and His authority is absolute. He is holy and righteous, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever present, unchanging, and completely worthy of our trust. He is Father to all who accept His gift of salvation. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

THE SON

Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life then died for our sins, offering His blood as atonement, and making it available to all who will exercise faith in Him. He arose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is today at the right hand of the Father as our Intercessor. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He empowers, guides and comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

MAN

Man is made in the image and likeness of God. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Man’s worth is determined by God’s love and Christ’s sacrifice. Therefore, every human is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

SALVATION

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people choose to place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, available to all, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

THE CHURCH

The Church is the eternal body of Christ consisting of all who have trusted by faith the finished work of Jesus. They are committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying His commands. The local church is an assembly of believers united in love for the ultimate purpose of glorifying God and making Him known to the lost world.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

Every person is a steward of his life and resources, which ultimately belong to God. All Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

ETERNITY

Man will exist forever either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. The lost will exist in the everlasting punishment of Hell and the saved in the everlasting blessedness of Heaven. Heaven and Hell are literal places of eternal existence.
